Zap-Map partners with Nissan UK to make EV charging easy

Zap-Map, the UK’s leading charge point mapping service, and automotive manufacturer Nissan announced a partnership in which purchasers of Nissan’s Electric vehicles will be provided with a Zap-Map Premium subscription that includes in-car support via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Nissan Electric vehicle purchasers can now receive three years’ free subscription to Zap-Map’s Premium service. The subscription partnership offer applies to private and business orders for new Nissan EV passenger cars.

Since 2014, Zap-Map has established the most comprehensive map and dataset of EV charging points in the UK, including live status information for over 70% of charge points.

On top of Zap-Map’s core features – which allow drivers to search, plan and pay for EV charging – Zap-Map Premium provides a number of additional features, including the ability to access Zap-Map within the in-car dashboard through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. This means drivers can find a suitable charger quickly and easily by viewing live charge point data, accessing route plans, and linking to a navigation app for turn-by-turn directions.

Looking ahead, zero-emission vehicles will continue to play an increasingly important role in Nissan’s future. Indeed, Nissan is forging partnerships with companies such as Zap-Map to help secure the necessary infrastructure for a zero-emission future.

Nissan’s partnership with Zap-Map allows new customers to plan electric journeys quicker and drive smarter with in-car support through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Nic Thomas, Marketing Director, Nissan Motor GB said: “Nissan is thrilled to be partnering with Zap-Map in this exciting move towards more integrated electric motoring. Nissan have always been pioneers of the electric vehicle market and Zap-Map lead the way for charge mapping, this partnership is a logical next step as both companies continue to pave the way for intuitive electric travel.”

Melanie Shufflebotham, Co-founder & COO at Zap-Map, said: “I’m very happy to announce Zap-Map’s partnership with Nissan today. With drivers increasingly making the switch to electric, our focus at Zap-Map is on making charging simple, and that’s exactly what this partnership between Nissan and Zap-Map helps to achieve.

“We know it can sometimes be hard to find suitable chargers while driving. By enabling access to Zap-Map within the in-car dashboard, our Premium offering makes navigation that much easier for EV drivers. That means Nissan retail customers will be able to view charge points, see live charge point status, access route plans, and link to a navigation app for turn-by-turn directions – all while on the move.

“As a company we really value feedback from our user community. We work extremely hard to understand the views of EV drivers, and that’s how we came to develop Zap-Map Premium. So it’s fantastic to see the partnership with Nissan going live today, ready to make EV navigation easy for Nissan customers across the country.”

Zap-Map Premium user John Curtis, from the EV Rally of Great Britain, said: “Zap-Map Premium…gives me information that is really useful when I’m on the move and it gives it to me in a way I can easily use. The map shows where I am, how many charge points there are around me, where the nearest ones are which is fabulous, whether they are available or not, whether they are working or not.

“I can have a list of those charge points so I can choose where I want to go. I can set up routes. And it’s just brilliant, it makes life an awful lot easier”.
