Wiesmann’s exciting new all-electric roadster ‘Project Thunderball’ was showcased at the Wiesmann Owners Club’s 20th Anniversary Event, held this past weekend near Stuttgart at the V8 Hotel Motorworld, Böblingen.
Making its German debut, the presentation of Project Thunderball was the highlight of Saturday’s activities. The event saw Wiesmann owners from across Europe gather to celebrate the brand and featured over 90 classic Wiesmann models, including MF3, MF4 & MF5.
Roheen Berry, CEO of Wiesmann, commented: “I am delighted to join the Wiesmann Owners Club for their 20th anniversary celebrations. As we take this next step forward with Wiesmann our existing customers are key to our ongoing success, therefore, it was important to me that our first event after our global debut involved the club. It has been a privilege to showcase Project Thunderball to this loyal audience and true fans of the brand.”
Armin Holst, Chairman of the Wiesmann Owners Club comments: The 20th anniversary of the Wiesmann Owners Club is an important milestone, it is the perfect occasion and audience for the German debut of Project Thunderball. It is so exciting to see the car in amongst so many heritage models from the brand, highlighting both Project Thunderball’s strong connection to the historic heart of Wiesmann, but also showcasing the new and innovative technology that will be the future. Our owners have been waiting for this moment and we are honoured to be the first customers to see the car in the metal.”
Project Thunderball is Wiesmann’s response to the electrified vehicle revolution, also marking a revolution at the heart of its brand, for the first time combining the remarkable characteristics of an electric powertrain with the trademark performance, driving pleasure and styling of a true Wiesmann.
Founded in Germany in 1988, Wiesmann went on to become a highly successful and globally renowned brand, and one of the last independent German engineered and manufactured automotive marques in the world. Wiesmann manufactures cars for the purist in all of us. Best known for combining German innovation, engineering and design with classic British elegance and style, Wiesmann has not deviated from its founding vision, resulting in hand-built, bespoke vehicles that have been – and will continue to be – recognised by connoisseurs as some of the world’s most iconic and collectable sports cars.
The all-new Project Thunderball will build upon this legacy, with its classic luxurious interior and everything a driver could need in an electric sports car presenting a unique package which will only appreciate in value over time and be passed down from generation to generation.
With a target range of 500km, thanks to its state-of-the-art 800V high-voltage architecture providing a maximum 92kWh battery capacity (83kWh available), and twin electric rear-mid mounted motors delivering up to 500kW (680hp) to the rear wheels and 1100 Nm of torque, the car will offer phenomenal straight-line performance and a targeted 0-62mph (0-100km/h) sprint acceleration time of 2.9 seconds. The world-first all-electric convertible roadster will be crafted from advanced carbon fibre, weighing in at little more than 1700kg (3747lb), with a power to weight ratio of 2.5kg per HP, bringing remarkable agility and handling more than worthy of the Wiesmann badge.
Project Thunderball will be priced from 300,000 Euros.
