The MG ZS EV has beaten rivals to a prestigious accolade after the flagship model was named Medium EV of the Year at the Company Car & Van 2020 Awards.
An expert judging panel assessed all features and functionalities of the ZS EV, pushing its business and fleet credentials to the test. In a review by Company Car & Van earlier this year, the ‘well-equipped’ SUV was commended for its range of innovative, driver-friendly technologies, which sit at the heart of the car. In addition to its easy-to-use infotainment touchscreen, the car was praised for its impressive sat nav system, with detailed yet clearly presented map graphics.
Safety systems such as Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Assist with Braking were also listed as highlights. These features unpinned the ZS EV’s recent Five Star Euro NCAP rating, making it one of the safest EVs in its class.
Company Car & Van described the ZS EV as ‘comfortable’ and ‘easy to drive’, with impressive noise insulation and brake energy recuperation. The car was praised in particular for its cost, easily undercutting other mid-range family EVs on the market and reinforcing MG’s reputation for offering incredible value for money.
“What the MG ZS EV does well is to offer something that many customers want,” said Andrew Walker, Editor of Company Car & Van. “It’s attractively priced, comes very well equipped and is a proper practical five-seat family car. By launching the ZS EV, MG has most definitely enhanced the EV sector.”
Company Car Today highlighted that, as fleet customers do not pay benefit-in-kind tax on electric vehicles, the ZS EV becomes an even more tempting option for business users.
“We are extremely excited to have received this prestigious award for the MG ZS EV”, said Daniel Gregorious, Head of Sales & Marketing at MG Motor UK. “Since we launched the SUV in July, our dealerships and orderbooks have been busier than ever before. The Medium EV of the Year Award is testament both to this popularity and our dedication to bringing zero emissions to the wider car-buying public. Our ambition is to be the number one in EV’s and this is just the start.”
Over the course of just a few months, the MG ZS EV has already enjoyed widespread success among the media and buyers alike. The SUV achieved record-breaking sales for the brand, with more than 3,000 customers having placed their orders. Combining the latest battery-electric technology with a family-friendly design in a value-for-money package, MG ZS EV brings zero emissions motoring to a highly affordable price point. Currently, thanks to MG’s latest offer, the ZS EV in top-spec Exclusive trim is available from just £24,745, after the Government’s plug-in car grant and the generous £2,500 MG customer saving have been deducted. Buyers looking to order the entry level Excite version can go electric from just £22,745.
