EVBox celebrates milestone of 100,000 installed charging points globally

This week EVBox, the leading manufacturer of charging stations, announced a new milestone in the company’s journey: achieving 100,000 charging points globally.

The news was announced at REVOLUTION Connected NYC, which brought together over 200 North-American mobility thought leaders in New York.

During this event Kristof Vereenooghe (CEO of EVBox) took to the stage to announce this major milestone, but more importantly to pledge to give back to our planet by planting one tree for every new EVBox charging point placed.

EVBox ships charging points to more than 55 countries across the globe, serving all markets: from commercial, residential, business up to the public sector. EVBox offers the full range of EV charging solutions from AC to DC including home, workplace, commercial, fast up to ultrafast charger (350 kWh). The demand for fast-charging stations is rapidly growing, which is why up to now, EVBox produced and delivered more than 1,500 fast-charging stations globally.

From 2015 to 2019 EVBox grew its total network by 400% in just four years (from 20,000 to 100,000 charging points) and will not stop to provide the infrastructure needed to ensure that sustainable electric transportation will become the norm in the mobility industry in the coming years. To achieve this mission, EVBox has committed to having at least one million EV charging stations, both regular and fast, placed globally by 2025.

Contributing to a sustainable future
EVBox is further tackling the climate crisis through carbon footprint compensation, leading to the one charger, one tree initiative. According to recent research by Science Magazine, tree planting has a “mind-blowing potential” to combat climate crisis. The figure shows that two-thirds of all emissions that remain in the atmosphere today can be removed with a worldwide planting programme. More specifically, the researchers found that there are 1.7bn hectares of treeless land which offer a total of 1.2tn where tree saplings can naturally grow.

“Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. It’s what drives us, our partners and our customers day by day. Last year, we planted 15,000 trees. By achieving this great milestone of 100,000 charging points worldwide, we pledge to plant one tree for every new charging point. Electrifying transport is at the core of what we do, with this initiative we also show just how important it is for us to give back to our planet,” said Kristof Vereenooghe, CEO of EVBox .

One Charger One Tree
As part of the One Charger One Tree initiative, EVBox will partner up once again with several amazing reforestation partners around the world (including OneTreePlanted) to make this promise a reality. At the beginning of the year, EVBox already acted upon previous promises by planting one tree for every charging station that was sold in 2018. To support local reforestation organizations, EVBox will collaborate with organizations across all continents.
