Karma Automotive aired its first TV commercial, ahead of the start of deliveries of the Revero luxury plug-in hybrid car later this month.
The 30-second TV spot, called “Delivery,” aired on CBS during the 2017 U.S. Open Polo Championship, for which Karma is a sponsor. The commercial featured Revero deliveries to waterfront mansions in Florida and California.
Available in an exclusive assortment of paint schemes and interior trim, the 2017 Karma Revero starts at a price of $130,000. That’s a bit of a jump from the original Fisker Karma, which was priced at $103,000 back in 2011.
The Revero’s plug-in hybrid powertrain is nearly identical to the original Fisker Karma: a GM-sourced Ecotec 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 260 hp pairs with twin electric motors that run on a 21.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack from A123 Systems.
The 403 hp combination results in the ability to charge from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds in Sport mode and reach a top speed of 125 mph.
Owners can plug in for a battery range up to 50 miles and the gas-powered generator extends the total range to approximately 300 miles. Fast-Charging brings the HV battery to 80 percent state-of-charge in 24 minutes. The solar roof not only charges the 12V battery, but also charges the HV battery adding 1.5 miles to the electric range, depending on weather conditions.
The Karma Revero will be the first car sold in the U.S. through one of the existing Karma dealers.
