2017 Ford Focus Electric

Ford Focus Electric has been the greenest choice of Ford customers since 2011 – an affordable, fun-to-drive car for families looking to make the change to an all-electric lifestyle. For 2017, Focus Electric brings improved EPA-estimated driving range of 115 miles – up from 76 miles on the 2016 model.

Ford’s longest-range battery electric vehicle now comes standard with all-new DC fast charge, which can deliver 75 miles of range in 30 minutes when using a charger capable of 150 amps. The car’s battery has 33.5 kilowatt-hours of installed energy – an increase of more than 40 percent compared to 2016, with no increase in the size of the battery.

Ford worked to provide an industry-standard five-point plug that is not only durable and comfortable to hold, but is pleasing to the eye. When the connector is plugged into the charge port, owners will see a state-of-charge LED indicator. Flashing quadrants represent charge in progress, while solidly lit quadrants show charge completion.

The all-electric powertrain and single-speed automatic transmission provide responsiveness and smooth acceleration, reaching speeds of 84 mph – all while the well-appointed cabin remains quiet and comfortable. Focus Electric delivers solid handling and aerodynamic styling.

A host of standard safety and security features includes seven airbags, AdvanceTrac® with Electronic Stability Control and MyKey® for North America. Eco-conscious materials used include soy, bio-based foam seat cushions and fabric made with recycled content. REPREVE seat fabric is made from 100 percent recycled content.

Other standard features for North America include 15-spoke, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a 60/40 split rear seat, Intelligent Access with push-button start, remote start, AM/FM/CD/MP3 player, voice-activated navigation with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, SYNC®, rearview camera, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated steering wheel, heated front seats and sideview mirrors, two smart-charging USB ports, hill start assist, perimeter alarm and Sony® audio with nine speakers and HD Radio™. Leather-trimmed seats with eight-way power driver’s seat are available.

Standard MyFord® Mobile includes a feature to help owners in the United States charge their car at reduced utility rates where available. Owners of Focus Electric can use the app to:

– Remotely check existing charge levels, estimated fuel and electric ranges, as well as the amount of charge time necessary for additional distances
– Remotely lock and unlock doors
– Remotely start or cancel remote start
– Monitor and schedule car charging from just about anywhere
– Determine car’s location via built-in GPS, view nearby charge points
– Set go times, allowing customers to set desired interior temperature using utility power before departing to help maximize electric range
– Estimate amount of CO2 saved by driving in electric mode

The cluster display of SmartGauge® with EcoGuide uses blue butterflies to represent surplus range – the more butterflies, the greater the range. At the end of each trip, a display provides distance driven, miles gained through regenerative braking, energy consumed, and comparative gasoline information achieved by driving electric.

Focus Electric is available at Ford electric vehicle certified dealers throughout North America and Europe.
