Toyota announced the Mirai has received more than 1,900 pre-orders in the United States. The number represents nearly double the 1,000 units that will be headed to US showrooms for the year.
The company says this exceeded their expectations so customers will have to be put on a waiting list until production meets up with demand.
In January 2015, Toyota announced a Mirai global production capacity increase in an effort to satisfy overwhelming demand in all markets.
Toyota will begin placing the first trailblazing customers in the Mirai driver’s seat this month.
The Toyota Mirai has the highest EPA estimated driving range rating of any zero emission electric vehicle on the market, at 312 miles, and offers an EPA estimated 67 MPGe city/highway/combined.
The Mirai is priced MSRP $57,500 plus an $835 destination fee. With combined state and federal incentives of $13,000 available to many customers, the purchase price could potentially fall to under $45,000.
The Mirai comprehensive, ownership experience offers a range of world-class services, including three years’ worth of complimentary fuel, three years of 24/7 customer call support, 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on key fuel cell vehicle components.
