Europcar Expands EV Options In London With Nissan LEAF Launch

Europcar UK announced its commitment to move its fleet to five percent electric cars by 2020 in line with the mayor of London’s Electric Vehicle Delivery Plan.

The announcement comes as the company launches a fleet of Nissan LEAF electric cars at its branches across London, which will be used for delivery and collection of hire cars in the capital.

The 100 percent electrically powered Nissan LEAF offers an environmentally-friendly solution to getting around London, as Europcar employees deliver and collect hire cars from customers for added convenience.

Nissan LEAFs will also be available to rent at Europcar branches across the capital, with the advantage of no fuel costs.

“From today customers in London will not only have the convenience of having their hire car delivered and collected to their door but will also have the assurance that we have used the greenest means possible to do so,” said Ken McCall, managing director, Europcar UK Group.

“Europcar has risen to the challenge to improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions in London by committing to five per cent electric vehicle fleet by 2020.

“To meet this ambitious target we will be promoting our new fleet of electric rental vehicles to Londoners.

“Car rental is a brilliant way to try out electric vehicles and Europcar welcomes the support from the mayor’s team for this initiative which we believe will contribute to London becoming a leader in sustainable transport.

“Businesses and motorists are beginning to realise the many benefits to driving electric, and Europcar is proud to be a part of this revolution in motoring technology.”
