Henkel partners with China Racing as Exclusive Adhesive Supplier

henkel-formula-eOrganizers of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Formula E Team China Racing has announced a joint partnership with Henkel, the world leading supplier of high-tech automotive adhesive solutions, which helps promote development in the electric vehicle field.

Formula E is the FIA’s first sustainable global motorsport championship featuring Formula cars powered exclusively by electric energy. The series begins September 2014 and continues through June 2015; it includes street circuits in 10 of the world’s leading cities including Beijing, London, and Los Angeles. The new ambitious championship is designed to appeal to a new generation of motorsport fans while showcasing and promoting sustainable technology for the environment.

Team China Racing has announced becoming the second of 10 teams taking part in the inaugural season of forthcoming zero-emissions Championship. It has partnered with Henkel as its exclusive adhesive supplier because Henkel has advanced technologies specially designed for electric vehicles, which will help keep Team China on the cutting edge of innovation to adapt to Formula E’s new era.

All 10 teams had finished four of the five pre-season tests in Donington Park, London by 10th July and most teams were focusing on endurance performance rather than shaving seconds off lap times. E.Dams-Renault’s Sebastien Buemi set the fastest testing time with a lap of 1:31.083s, which demonstrated the significant speed enhancement of electric vehicles. Former Belgian Formula 1 driver Jerome d’Ambrosio tested one of China Racing’s cars, and was a regular frontrunner during the test.

Henkel supported Team China in the fifth and final test on August 19th by providing race-side technicians and experts. The series gives Henkel an excellent opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability and showcase Henkel innovative solutions for the automotive electrical/electronic systems and alternative energy vehicle systems. These solutions contribute to lightweight design, optimal manufacturing process, cost efficiency and sustainability.

Formula E is in step with the future direction of the automotive industry. As sustainability becomes a global trend and concern, development in clean technologies is welcomed by governments, and China has enormous potential for the expansion of electric vehicles as a tool to address the issue of urban pollutions. Henkel believes the partnership with Team China Racing in Formula E will provide the perfect platform to increase public awareness about electric vehicles and accelerate the development of relevant technologies in future automotive industry.
