Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc.announced that it will demonstrate its clean, fuel efficient, Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) F-150 pickup truck to nation’s leading fleet managers at the 2012 Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) in Williamsburg, Virginia, June 2-6, 2012.
The EUFMC is an annual meeting of fleet representatives from electric utility companies, typically attracting the largest investor-owned electric utilities in the U.S., Canada and South America as well as major electric cooperatives and contractors.
Last week, Quantum has delivered the first pilot version of its PHEV F-150 pickup truck to Florida Power & Light Company, in association with Dow Kokam, the lithium-ion battery system supplier for the PHEV F-150.
Quantum’s “F-Drive” parallel hybrid drive system powers the PHEV F-150 – first 35 miles on a series-hybrid electric zero emission mode, followed by an efficient parallel-hybrid drive mode that extends the range up to 600 miles, and yielding a 100+ mpg fuel efficiency depending on the drive cycle.
The innovative integration scheme for the F-Drive and the state-of-the art Lithium Ion battery system ensures full ground clearance without impingement into the cab or cargo bed. The PHEV F-150 fleet vehicles incorporating Quantum’s F-Drive will meet CARB/EPA emission regulations and the safety regulations from the US Department of Transportation Federal Motor Vehicles Safety Standards.
