Skoda has officially started series production of the new Epiq at Volkswagen Group’s Navarra plant in Pamplona, Spain, marking a significant milestone for the Czech automaker’s electrification strategy.
The Epiq is not only Skoda’s most affordable all-electric model to date, but also the first Skoda vehicle ever produced in Spain. As part of Volkswagen Brand Group Core’s Electric Urban Car Family, the compact electric SUV will help bring EV ownership within reach of more European customers while strengthening manufacturing synergies across the Volkswagen Group.
A New Chapter for Skoda’s EV Expansion
Production of the Epiq represents a historic step for Skoda. Following the current-generation Superb, it becomes only the second model in the company’s European lineup to be built outside the Czech Republic. The move allows Skoda to preserve production capacity at its domestic facilities for other high-demand models while increasing flexibility across its manufacturing network.
The Epiq joins a broader electric vehicle initiative within Volkswagen Brand Group Core. Alongside the CUPRA Raval, Volkswagen ID. Polo, and Volkswagen ID. Cross, it forms part of a cross-brand effort to deliver affordable electric vehicles to the fast-growing entry-level EV segment.
According to Skoda CEO Klaus Zellmer, the Epiq is designed to make electric driving more accessible by combining everyday practicality, strong value for money, and modern technology in a compact package.
Built at Volkswagen’s Navarra Plant
Located near Pamplona in northern Spain, the Volkswagen Navarra facility is one of the Group’s key manufacturing sites. Since joining Volkswagen Group in 1984, the plant has produced more than 10 million vehicles and currently employs nearly 5,000 people.
The factory previously focused on combustion-engine models such as the Volkswagen Taigo and T-Cross. With the launch of Epiq production, the site is expanding into EV manufacturing and will soon add the Volkswagen ID. Cross to its production lineup.
Like Skoda’s flagship plant in Mladá Boleslav, the Navarra facility is capable of assembling both internal-combustion and fully electric vehicles on the same production line, providing greater operational flexibility.
Skoda Epiq: Affordable Electric Mobility
First revealed during its world premiere in Zurich on May 19, the Skoda Epiq is positioned as the brand’s entry-level EV. With an expected starting price of around €26,000, it becomes the most affordable electric vehicle in Skoda’s lineup.
The compact SUV is the first Skoda model built on Volkswagen Group’s new MEB+ platform and the first to fully embrace the brand’s Modern Solid design language. Despite its compact footprint, the Epiq is designed to maximize interior space and everyday usability.
Customers will be able to choose from multiple battery and powertrain configurations, with outputs ranging from 85 kW to 155 kW. Depending on the version, the Epiq is expected to offer a driving range of up to approximately 440 kilometers (273 miles) on a single charge.
The model also brings a broad suite of advanced driver-assistance and safety technologies, including features typically found in larger and more expensive vehicles.
Key Model in Skoda’s Growing EV Portfolio
The Epiq will play a central role in Skoda’s electric vehicle offensive. Together with the upcoming Peaq, the compact electric SUV is expected to help the brand significantly expand its EV lineup and strengthen its position in Europe’s increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.
With production now underway in Spain, Skoda is taking another major step toward making electric mobility more accessible, offering customers an affordable EV that combines practicality, modern technology, and competitive range in a compact package.
