
Mercedes-Benz Trucks is strengthening its battery-electric commercial vehicle portfolio with the introduction of the new eActros Lowliner, a model specifically designed for high-volume freight transport. Built on the proven eActros 600 platform, the new variant targets logistics operators seeking locally CO₂e-free transport solutions for volume-intensive long-haul operations.
Orders for the new electric truck are scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2026 across EU30 markets and additional regions, while series production is set to begin in the second quarter of 2027 at the company’s Wörth am Rhein manufacturing facility.
Designed for Maximum Cargo Volume
Lowliner tractor units feature a reduced coupling height, allowing them to tow mega trailers with increased interior cargo space while remaining within legal height limits. This makes them particularly well-suited for transporting bulky, lightweight goods where maximizing cargo volume is more important than carrying extremely heavy loads.
With the eActros Lowliner, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is bringing electric mobility to a segment traditionally dominated by diesel-powered vehicles. The company has engineered the model to match the dimensions and operational characteristics of conventional Lowliner trucks, making it easier for fleet operators to integrate electric vehicles into existing logistics networks.
Built on Proven eActros Technology
The eActros Lowliner shares its core architecture with the eActros 600, which entered series production in late 2024. It incorporates the same advanced technologies that have become the foundation of Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ electric long-haul strategy.

According to Achim Puchert, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the new model significantly broadens the company’s battery-electric offering for long-haul transport while addressing the growing demand for high-volume logistics applications.
Two Battery Options Available
The eActros Lowliner will be offered as a 4×2 tractor unit with a 4,000 mm wheelbase and will be available in two battery configurations.
The eActros 400 Lowliner features two LFP battery packs, each with a capacity of 207 kWh, resulting in a total installed capacity of 414 kWh. The larger eActros 600 Lowliner uses three battery packs, delivering a total capacity of 621 kWh.
Mercedes-Benz estimates that the eActros 600 Lowliner will achieve a driving range similar to the standard eActros 600, which can cover approximately 500 kilometers (311 miles) on a single charge at a gross combination weight of 40 tonnes.
The smaller battery pack configuration offers an important advantage for operators prioritizing payload capacity. Thanks to its lower vehicle weight, the eActros 400 Lowliner can carry payloads of up to 24 tonnes, compared with approximately 21 tonnes for the three-battery eActros 600 Lowliner.
Fast Charging and Megawatt Charging Ready
Charging performance remains a major focus of the new Lowliner models.
Using the standard CCS2 charging interface, both variants support charging rates of up to 400 kW. Under ideal conditions, charging the two-battery version from 10% to 80% takes approximately 46 minutes, while the three-battery model requires around 70 minutes.
Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz Trucks will also offer support for Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology. Customers will be able to specify an optional MCS charging port, enabling significantly faster charging once megawatt charging infrastructure becomes more widely available.
Powerful Electric Drivetrain
Like the eActros 600, the Lowliner utilizes Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ integrated e-axle system. The setup combines two electric motors with a four-speed transmission, delivering a continuous output of 400 kW and a peak output of 600 kW.
The drivetrain is designed to provide near-instant torque delivery and maintain strong performance across a wide range of operating conditions, making it suitable for demanding long-distance freight applications.
Intelligent Energy Management
Efficiency remains a key advantage of the eActros platform. The Lowliner incorporates advanced regenerative braking technology that converts kinetic energy into electricity and stores it in the battery for later use.
Drivers can choose from five levels of recuperation depending on road and traffic conditions, while a one-pedal driving mode further enhances energy recovery and reduces reliance on conventional braking systems.
The truck also features Predictive Powertrain Control, an intelligent cruise control and transmission management system optimized for electric operation. By analyzing road topography, traffic signs, route information, and upcoming driving conditions, the system helps minimize unnecessary acceleration and braking, maximizing energy efficiency and extending driving range.

The launch of the eActros Lowliner marks another important step in Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ strategy to electrify long-haul freight transport. By combining high cargo volume capability, competitive range, substantial payload capacity, and future-ready charging technology, the new model aims to accelerate the transition toward zero-emission logistics across Europe.
