Kia PV5 Crew Debuts: Flexible Electric Van for Passenger and Cargo Use

Kia is strengthening its presence in the growing electric commercial vehicle segment with the introduction of the PV5 Crew, a highly adaptable addition to its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) range.

With the PV5 Crew, Kia is targeting a key gap in the commercial EV market—vehicles that can seamlessly handle both people and cargo within the same workflow. By combining factory-integrated flexibility, practical features, and a proven electric platform, the model positions itself as a compelling solution for modern businesses transitioning to electrified fleets.

A Dual-Purpose Electric Workhorse

Built on the PV5 Cargo L2/H1 platform, the PV5 Crew is engineered to handle mixed-use scenarios without compromise. Its standout feature is a tool-free transformation system that allows operators to switch between configurations in seconds.

A one-touch seat lever mechanism enables a quick transition from a two-seat cargo layout to a five-seat crew setup. With a single motion, the system reclines, folds, and adjusts the partition—eliminating downtime and simplifying daily operations for fleet users.

Factory-Integrated Flexibility

The PV5 Crew is part of Kia’s Made In Plant (MIP) conversion strategy, where modifications are completed directly at the factory. This approach ensures higher build quality, better integration, and increased customization options compared to traditional aftermarket conversions.

Developed alongside specialized partners, the system delivers a turnkey solution tailored for industries such as construction, maintenance, landscaping, and airport services. Additional local conversion options further expand the PV5’s adaptability across different markets.

Practical Interior Designed for Business

Inside, the PV5 Crew emphasizes functionality and durability. An integrated L-track mounting system allows secure cargo fastening and supports various add-ons, making it suitable for diverse operational needs.

Other practical features include:

– Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) outlets for powering tools and equipment
– Durable, non-slip flooring for safer loading and unloading
– Flexible cargo space that adapts to changing requirements

Cargo capacity varies significantly depending on the configuration. In five-seat mode, the cargo area measures 1,278 mm, while switching to two-seat mode extends it to 1,965 mm. Total cargo volume ranges from 2.4 m³ to 3.7 m³.

Built on Kia’s Advanced EV Platform

The PV5 Crew is underpinned by Kia’s E-GMP.S (Electric-Global Modular Platform for Service) architecture, designed specifically for commercial applications. This platform supports long-term durability, modularity, and advanced connectivity, including integration with modern fleet management systems.

Power comes from a 51.5 kWh battery, delivering an estimated range of up to 283 km (WLTP, pending homologation). The van is also engineered with a targeted maximum payload of 625 kg, making it well-suited for urban logistics and service-based operations.

Award-Winning Foundations

The PV5 Crew builds on the success of the PV5 Cargo platform, which has already earned recognition as the 2026 International Van of the Year (IVOTY). This accolade underscores the vehicle’s strong engineering and relevance in the evolving electric van market.

Production and Availability

Kia has confirmed that production of the PV5 Crew is scheduled to begin on April 30, 2026. Market availability and regional rollout details will be announced at a later stage.
