BYD Han L sedan and Tang L SUV with ultra-fast charging go on sale in China

Chinese automotive giant BYD has launched its first EVs built upon the new Super e-platform. The spotlight shines on the sleek Han L sedan and the spacious Tang L SUV, both boasting jaw-dropping ultra-fast charging capabilities.

During an electrifying launch event, BYD unveiled these new models, with company engineers proclaiming they’ve reached the “master realm of Chinese technology.” This bold statement is backed by the impressive specs of the Han L and Tang L, the first vehicles to utilize BYD’s cutting-edge 1000V Super e-platform.

According to BYD, both the Han L and Tang L can gain an incredible nearly 250 miles (400 km for the Han L, 370 km for the Tang L) of range in a mere 5 minutes!

The Han L takes it even further, able to recharge from 10% to 70% in just six minutes and achieve a full 0% to 100% charge in 20 minutes. The Tang L isn’t far behind, offering a full charge in around 30 minutes.

Beyond the lightning-fast charging, these EVs offer compelling features and competitive pricing:

BYD Han L Sedan:

– Available in three trims, starting at an enticing 219,800 yuan (approximately $30,000) – significantly lower than its pre-sale price.
– Boasts a substantial 83.2 kWh BYD Blade battery, providing a CLTC driving range of up to 435 miles (701 km).
– Utilizes a 1000V architecture with two charge guns and an impressive up to 10C charge rate.
– Size-wise, the Han L (5,050 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,505 mm tall) is comparable to the Tesla Model S.
– Equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye smart driving assist system, featuring the mid-tier “B” version and DiPilot 300.

BYD Tang L SUV:

– Also offered in three trims, with a starting price of 239,800 yuan (approximately $32,700), again lower than its pre-sale figure.
– Features a larger 100.5 kWh battery, delivering a CLTC range of up to 435 miles (701 km).
– Shares the 1000V architecture and ultra-fast charging capabilities, gaining 230 miles (370 km) in just 5 minutes.
– Slightly larger than the new Tesla Model Y Juniper in China (5,040 mm long, 1996 mm wide, and 1,760 mm tall).
– Also comes with BYD’s God’s Eye B ADAS system with DiPilot 300.

For those not ready to go fully electric, both the Han L and Tang L are also available as Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), with starting prices of 209,800 yuan ($28,500) and 229,800 yuan ($31,300) respectively.
