XPENG, NIO, Li Auto Report EV Sales Increases In August

Chinese premium electric vehicle makers, XPENG, NIO and Li Auto announced their vehicle delivery numbers for the month of August and their combined results were a record for any month.

In August 2023, XPENG recorded monthly deliveries of 13,690 Smart EVs, a 24% increase over the prior month and a 43% increase year-over-year. Since the start of this year, XPENG’s monthly delivery volume has continuously increased, maintaining solid growth momentum.

In August, XPENG G6 deliveries reached 7,068 units, which brought cumulative G6 deliveries to more than 11,000 units. The G6 has realized a significant ramp-up in production output, owing to the Company’s considerable preparation and high efficiencies across its supply chain, as well as its manufacturing and delivery capabilities. Notably, G6 deliveries surpassed the 10,000 mark in only 45 days following its delivery start date.

NIO’s vehicle deliveries increased by 81% year-over-year to 19,329 vehicles in August. The company’s deliveries consisted of 12,015 premium smart electric SUVs and 7,314 premium smart electric sedans.

Cumulative deliveries of NIO vehicles reached 383,908 as of August 31, 2023. Year-to-date, the company delivered 94,352 vehicles, up by 31.9% year-over-year.

 

Li Auto’s vehicle deliveries skyrocketed by 663.8% year-over-year in August to 34,914, as monthly deliveries for each of the three Li L series models exceeded 10,000 units. The cumulative deliveries of Li Auto vehicles in 2023 reached 208,165 as of the end of August.

As of August 31, 2023, the Li Auto had 346 retail stores in 130 cities, as well as 324 servicing centers and Li Auto-authorized body and paint shops operating in 220 cities.

Together, XPENG, NIO and Li Auto delivered over 68,000 units, up from about 25,000 units a year ago. That’s the highest combined total for the three EV makers ever.
