The All-New Hyundai IONIQ Electric has been awarded the 2017 Car of the Year by prestigious Swedish car magazine Teknikens Världs.
The jury based its decision on the IONIQ’s handling characteristics, appealing design, an attractive price as well as its general practicality in everyday life, also due to its maximum range of 280km. The overall verdict of Teknikens Världs: “This is an electric car for the people”.
In a related news, the Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid won the Car of the Year Award in France in the Compact Car category at the 2017 Trophées Argus.
The jury of 23 journalists of the French car magazine L‘Argus praised the IONIQ’s attractive design and spaciousness as well as the high quality of its driving and safety assistance systems. Other nominees in the same category were the Fiat Tipo, the Infiniti Q30, the Renault Scénic dCi and the fourth-generation Toyota Prius.
Since its introduction, the Hyundai IONIQ has already received multiple awards, including the “Car of the Year 2017” award by Dinside in Norway, “Car of the Year” in the Compact Car category at the 2017 Trophées Argus, 2016 Red Dot Design Award, as well as the GOOD DESIGN® Award 2015 and 2016.
The IONIQ also achieved a maximum five-star safety rating from the independent vehicle assessment organisation Euro NCAP. In the test the IONIQ proved it is one of the safest cars in its segment, achieving top marks in all four categories: Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Pedestrian and Safety Assist. When announcing the best rated cars in 2016, Euro NCAP moreover appointed the IONIQ Best in Class Car of 2016 in the ‘Small Family Car’ category.
