Porsche is introducing a comprehensive set of upgrades for the 2027 Taycan, enhancing driving engagement, track performance, efficiency, and digital technology across the lineup.
The latest updates bring a new E-Shift system with simulated gear changes, expanded range capability of up to 700 km (WLTP), a next-generation infotainment platform with AI-powered voice control, and a factory-orderable Manthey Kit for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package.
According to Porsche, the updates are designed to make the Taycan more emotional to drive while improving usability and long-distance capability.
New E-Shift System Adds a More Engaging EV Experience
One of the most notable additions for the 2027 model year is Porsche’s new E-Shift system, available across all Taycan variants.
The feature simulates an eight-speed transmission using steering-wheel-mounted paddles, creating a more traditional sports car driving experience. Drivers can manually shift through eight virtual gears, complete with noticeable shift jolts, gear-specific drag torque, and a virtual rev limiter.
To further enhance the sensation, Porsche has reworked its Electric Sport Sound system. Interior and exterior audio now changes according to the selected virtual gear and simulated engine speed, while a virtual tachometer and shift-light display provide visual feedback in the instrument cluster.
The E-Shift package is optional on most Taycan models and comes standard on the Taycan Turbo GT. Porsche says each variant receives unique transmission mapping and sound tuning tailored to its character.
Manthey Kit Brings More Performance to the Taycan Turbo GT
Porsche is extending its renowned Manthey performance upgrades to an electric vehicle for the first time.
The new Manthey Kit for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package includes aerodynamic, chassis, and powertrain enhancements aimed at maximizing track performance. The package is available both as a retrofit and, for the first time, directly from the factory.
The upgraded Turbo GT recently demonstrated its capabilities at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where Porsche development driver Lars Kern recorded a lap time of 6:55.533, setting a new benchmark in the electric executive car category.
Taycan Range Increases to Up to 700 km
Efficiency improvements also play a major role in the 2027 update.
Rear-wheel-drive Taycan Sedan and Sport Turismo models can now be equipped with new low rolling-resistance summer tires. When paired with the Performance Battery Plus, the setup increases driving range by up to 20 km and enables a WLTP-rated range of up to 700 km.
The 20-inch tires are optimized for both urban driving and long-distance travel, further strengthening the Taycan’s position as one of the most capable premium electric touring cars on the market.
Next-Generation Porsche Digital Interaction
The Taycan also receives Porsche’s latest Porsche Digital Interaction (DI) operating system, bringing a redesigned user experience and significantly more computing power.
The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system delivers up to five times the processing performance of the previous generation, resulting in quicker responses and smoother operation.
A new minimalist interface features dynamic animations, customizable widgets, and a detailed 3D vehicle model displayed in the owner’s actual exterior color. Drivers can access vehicle settings and functions directly through the interactive model.
The updated system also introduces:
– Expanded Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration
– Improved online navigation with 3D building visualization
– Enhanced Charging Planner functionality
– Over-the-air infotainment updates
– Personalized themes and display layouts
– Access to third-party applications through the Porsche App Centre
Voice functionality has also been upgraded with AI-supported Voice Pilot technology. Drivers can interact naturally with the system, perform Google-powered points-of-interest searches, ask follow-up questions without repeating wake words, and even open the charging port via voice command.
Wireless smartphone charging has been improved as well, with charging output increased to up to 25 watts.
Availability and Pricing
The updated 2027 Porsche Taycan lineup is available to order now, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in Fall 2026.
Pricing starts at $111,900 for the rear-wheel-drive Taycan, excluding Porsche’s $2,350 delivery, processing, and handling fee. Final pricing will vary depending on options, regional requirements, taxes, registration fees, and dealer charges.
With the introduction of E-Shift, improved efficiency, a significantly upgraded digital ecosystem, and the first-ever factory-available Manthey Kit for an electric Porsche, the 2027 Taycan further strengthens its position among the most advanced and engaging luxury electric performance vehicles on the market.
