Lexus has officially unveiled the all-new TZ, a fully electric three-row luxury SUV designed to redefine comfort, performance, and in-cabin experience in the premium EV segment.
First previewed during the Japan Mobility Show 2025, the Lexus TZ arrives with the brand’s new “DISCOVER LIMITLESS” philosophy, emphasizing freedom, versatility, and lifestyle-focused mobility. Positioned as a flagship battery-electric SUV, the TZ blends Lexus refinement with advanced electrification technology and a lounge-inspired interior concept.
Lexus TZ Focuses On “Driving Lounge” Comfort
The centerpiece of the Lexus TZ is its “Driving Lounge” concept, which transforms the cabin into a spacious, relaxing environment for every passenger.
Built on a dedicated EV platform, the TZ features a long 3,050 mm wheelbase and a flat-floor architecture that maximizes interior room. Lexus says the design prioritizes openness and comfort, helped by a slim panoramic roof and minimalist cabin layout.
The automaker also focused heavily on cabin quietness. Advanced sound directivity control technology creates a more natural acoustic environment, while ambient lighting and a premium audio system contribute to the SUV’s lounge-like atmosphere.
Unlike many three-row SUVs that prioritize only front-seat occupants, Lexus engineered the TZ to deliver comfort across all seating positions. A dedicated “Rear Comfort” mode adjusts vehicle systems to improve ride quality for rear passengers during long journeys.
407 HP AWD Powertrain And Fast Charging
The Lexus TZ uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing a combined 300 kW (407 HP). Both the front and rear motors generate 167 kW and 268.6 Nm of torque.
Performance is strong for a large family SUV, with Lexus quoting a 0–100 km/h sprint time of 5.4 seconds.
Power comes from a 95.82 kWh battery pack, with estimated driving ranges varying by market:
– 300 miles (North America)
– 620 km (Japan)
– 530 km (Europe)
– 640 km (China)
DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 35 minutes using a 150 kW charger.
The TZ supports multiple charging standards globally, including NACS, CCS, CHAdeMO, Type 1, Type 2, and GB/T connectors depending on region.
Aerodynamic Design Meets Lexus Styling
While the TZ maintains the commanding stance expected from a luxury SUV, Lexus placed major emphasis on aerodynamic efficiency.
The exterior combines sculpted surfaces with functional airflow management to improve range and stability. Lexus claims the TZ achieves top-class aerodynamic performance among Lexus SUVs.
Signature styling elements include the brand’s evolved spindle body design, geometric lighting graphics, and specially designed aerodynamic wheels available in 20-inch and 22-inch sizes.
The SUV measures 5,100 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,705 mm tall, placing it firmly in the premium large SUV category.
Sustainable Materials And Circular Development
Sustainability also plays a major role in the TZ project.
Lexus introduced “Forged Bamboo,” a decorative interior material created using bamboo sourced from Japan’s Shikoku region. The material aims to combine traditional craftsmanship with environmentally conscious production.
Additional sustainable materials include recycled aluminum and manufacturing processes designed to reduce environmental impact throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.
Lexus Targets Premium EV Families
According to Chief Engineer Takeshi Miyaura, the TZ was developed for customers who value both authenticity and time spent with family.
The project focused on delivering a luxury EV experience that goes beyond driving dynamics by emphasizing relaxation, entertainment, and emotional connection inside the cabin.
At the same time, Lexus says the TZ retains the brand’s signature driving character through its “Aji-migaki” development philosophy, which fine-tunes steering, ride quality, and overall vehicle response for a more refined experience.
