OVO launching UK’s first home and public EV charging subscription

OVO is launching Charge Anytime monthly plans, the UK’s first EV charging subscription that gives drivers a single fixed price for charging both at home and on the go.

There are two monthly plans to choose from and both include smart charging at home and public charging vouchers, which can be used across more than 400,000 chargers throughout the UK and Europe.

News of the launch comes as research from OVO shows that half of Brits (49%) want to go electric for their next car. Three fifths (61%) said they are more likely to opt for an EV than they were five years ago, and two fifths (42%) said that saving money on fuel is a reason they’d consider making the switch.

But OVO’s research found eight in ten current EV drivers (79%) said charging needs to be simplified. They face a huge difference between home and public charging costs, complicated tech setups and confusing unit rates. OVO’s new plans will make charging more simple and predictable than ever before, for one fixed monthly cost that’s less than half the price of a tank of petrol.

The Standard monthly plan is just £27.50 a month – saving EV drivers over £340 per year – for:

– 700 miles of smart charging at home per month (8,400 miles per year)
– Public charging vouchers that can be used throughout the UK and Europe
– EV charger insurance cover against accidental damage, theft and vandalism

At £27.50, OVO’s Standard monthly plan is less than a third of the average monthly car fuel cost for petrol or diesel cars (£91.67 per month) in the UK.

And the Premium monthly plan is £37.50 a month – saving EV drivers up to £460 per year – and offering:

– 1,000 miles of smart charging at home per month (12,000 miles per year)
– Public charging vouchers that can be used throughout the UK and Europe
– EV charger insurance cover against accidental damage, theft and vandalism
– A free annual battery health check and deep EV insights from ClearWatt
– 15% discount on KwikFit Club tyres

With no long-term contract, drivers can switch plans depending on their needs, and there are multi-car options for households with multiple EVs.

Alex Thwaites, Director of EV at OVO, said: “We need to make EVs the easy choice for drivers. This means making them super affordable to run and simple to charge. Charge Anytime monthly plans offer the best of both worlds – the flexibility to charge anytime, from anywhere, with the confidence of knowing exactly what you’ll pay each month.”

OVO’s Charge Anytime monthly plans will launch on 4th November 2025 and OVO customers can sign up from today, here.
