Fastned arrives in Italy with new charging station at Truck Park Brescia Est

Fastned, the European fast-charging company, has opened its first EV charging station in Italy. The new station is located at the Truck Park Brescia Est rest area along the busy A4 highway between Brescia and Padova, a key artery across the north of the country.

Eight charging points will initially be available for EV drivers, making this the largest EV charging station so far on the A4 highway network.

Fastned’s mission is to accelerate the transition to electric mobility and aims to open 1000 stations across Europe by 2030. With over 340 stations currently operational, the company’s first station in Italy means Fastned now offers industry-leading fast-charging to drivers in eight countries.

Fastned’s station at Truck Park Brescia Est brings Fastned’s award-winning charging experience to the area of Italy where EV ownership is densest; the European Alternative Fuels Observatory claims over 50% of Italy’s EVs are in the North-east and North-west of the country. Sales of EVs in January 2025 were up 132% year-on-year, with over 300,000 fully electric vehicles now registered in Italy.

Eight 400kW chargers will initially be available for EV drivers at Truck Park Brescia Est, with the possibility to expand the station later to construct more. Fastned’s first station in the country demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding to new markets in line with its strategy of obtaining and operating high-traffic, scalable locations.

Italy is a key player in Europe’s transition to electric mobility, and building high-quality infrastructure, particularly along its extensive motorway network, will be critical to facilitating the next stage in the country’s transition to electric mobility. At the same time, it is also important to ensure a level playing field for companies in the sector, with fair access to public tenders and policies that enhance the freedom of choice for Italian EV drivers.

Additional locations in Italy have already been acquired and more Fastned stations are under development as the company looks forward to welcoming more Italian EV drivers in the coming years.

“I’m delighted to open our first station in Italy – a nation with a peerless automotive history and huge potential to accelerate the switch to electric mobility. This large and highly visible station at Truck Park Brescia Est will benefit drivers in Italy’s most EV-dense region, and shows what is possible when ambitious partners come together in long-term agreements, such as we have with A4 Holding. Large and impactful stations like this one are only possible under lasting and stable partnerships; that is how we will power the transition to electric mobility in Italy. We will continue to advocate for open markets and fair access to public tenders for locations to ensure we can bring more of Fastned’s award-winning charging stations to EV drivers across this beautiful country,” said Michiel Langezaal, co-Founder and CEO of Fastned.
