Mapbox to Deliver Real-Time Navigation and Mapping Services for Zeekr EVs

Chinese premium electric mobility brand Zeekr announced a new partnership with Mapbox, to utilize the leading mapping and navigation provider’s flexible and powerful navigation platform and responsive mapping and location services to establish a unique, adaptable, and seamless in-car experience for customers in global markets.

Zeekr is developing and delivering Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) to enable the car to evolve seamlessly with technology. Zeekr’s SDV platform is built on layers of innovation to ensure an adaptable and customer-focused vehicle experience. By integrating Mapbox’s flexible and powerful navigation platform, Zeekr drivers will enjoy an always up-to-date navigation experience in their smart electric vehicles that adapts to their needs and the dynamic nature of their journeys, receiving the latest software advancements without requiring hardware updates.

This collaboration showcases Zeekr’s commitment to co-creating with customers and placing them at the center of design and function, delivering a car that stays “always fresh,” relevant, and primed for the future.

“Our partnership with Mapbox brings a new level of adaptability and user-centric design to Zeekr’s SDV platform” said Giovanni Lanfranchi, CEO of Zeekr Technology Europe. “Navigation and AI are core elements of the technology stack enabling the Intelligent Cockpit. With Mapbox’s real-time, cloud-based navigation capabilities, we’re able to offer our customers an evolving experience that responds to their feedback and keeps their vehicle at the forefront of innovation. This collaboration is key to our mission of customer co-creation, creating vehicles that evolve over time and deliver an experience that’s always fresh, connected, and uniquely Zeekr.”

“Partnering with Zeekr is an exciting opportunity for Mapbox to support the future of mobility,” adds Peter Sirota, CEO of Mapbox. “Together, we’re setting a new standard for innovation, using our cloud-first navigation and location platform to create a driving experience that’s more responsive, customizable, and future-ready. We’re thrilled to work hand-in-hand with Zeekr to bring their SDV vision to life.”

Through its collaboration with Mapbox, Zeekr’s platform exemplifies a future-focused approach to mobility, leveraging a real-time, cloud-based navigation system designed for quick iteration and a customer-centric driving experience.

The improved Electric Vehicle Routing and Cruise Mode simplifies waypoint management for smooth and efficient trip planning, whether in city traffic or on highways. Charging Filters make long journeys more convenient by helping drivers locate the most suitable charging stations based on their choices, while Trip Preferences allow users to set a minimum State of Charge (SoC) upon arrival for added peace of mind.

The redesigned map interface offers flexible 2D, 3D, and satellite views, enhanced with real-time traffic updates to keep drivers informed. On longer trips, Dynamic Rest Area Recommendations suggest ideal rest stops, while Traffic Incidents and Re-Routing features help drivers avoid delays with smart alternative routes.

Finally, a streamlined User Feedback system allows drivers to share screen recordings and audio feedback directly with the navigation team, enabling continuous improvements through co-creation.

These enhancements will redefine the driving experience of Zeekr users, making every journey smoother, more efficient, and enjoyable.

Both Zeekr and Mapbox will be showcasing this partnership at CES 2025 in Las Vegas this January, giving visitors a first-hand look at the advanced SDV platform, real-time navigation, and intuitive Human-Machine Interface (HMI) that redefine the in-car experience.
