General Motors has issued a recall order for 2890 Chevrolet Equinox EVs due to a potential issue with their adaptive cruise control system.
The recall specifically affects certain 2025 model year all-wheel-drive Equinox EVs.
The problem stems from a faulty software calibration within the brake system control module (BSCM). This incorrect calibration can prevent the vehicle’s adaptive cruise control from braking effectively as intended.
In October, a GM engineer reported an incident through the company’s “Speak Up Safety” program where a test vehicle failed to stop as expected. Following an investigation initiated on November 8, 2024, GM identified the incorrect software setting in the BSCM of specific 2025 AWD models.
This recall does not affect any 2025 Equinox EVs equipped with GM’s Super Cruise driver-assistance technology. Only 2025 AWD models without Super Cruise are included in the recall. Front-wheel-drive Equinox EVs and AWD models with Super Cruise are not affected.
GM dealers will address the issue by updating the software calibration free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed out on March 3, 2025.
