Chinese biggest EV maker BYD sold 302,459 plug-in vehicles in March, up from just 122,311 EVs in February and January’s 201,493 and a 46% increase over the year-earlier month.
BYD sold 139,902 all-electric vehicles in March, up 36.26 percent year-on-year and up 154.79 percent from February. Remaining 161,729 units were PHEVs, up 56.38 percent year-on-year and up 141.96 percent from February.
BYD ceased production and sales of ICE-powered vehicles in March 2022, switching to a focus on the production of PHEVs and BEVs.
In Q1, BYD sold 612,315 vehicles, up 8% vs. a year earlier, with passenger BEVs up 9% to 291,730.
BYD, which sells its vehicles in more than 50 countries, including Japan and Australia, delivered a record 38,434 plug-in vehicles in overseas markets, surpassing the previous record of 36,174 in January.
Overseas sales are a growing share of BYD demand and expected to keep increasing in the coming months.
