Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Priced At $78,199 In Canada

Hyundai Canada revealed pricing for the first-ever IONIQ 5 N. Offered in a single, fully equipped trim priced at $78,199 plus freight and PDI, the IONIQ 5 N is the first fully electric offering from the N performance brand.

The newest addition to Hyundai Canada’s highly-awarded EV lineup, IONIQ 5 N represents N brand’s vision for electrification and a fresh opportunity for enthusiasts to satisfy their driving passion on both road and track. IONIQ 5 N has arrived to Canada and will be in dealerships across Canada in the coming weeks.

As comfortable on the track as it is on the road, the IONIQ 5 N combines the standard IONIQ 5 model’s Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with N motorsport technologies to deliver cutting-edge performance and unmatched driver engagement, paired with a full complement of convenience, driver-assistance and safety features.

Tested to maximize N’s three performance pillars — corner rascal, racetrack capability and everyday sports car — this powerful EV offers racetrack-ready performance thanks to several technical improvements. The two-stage inverter with increased energy efficiency for stronger power output from a new 84 kWh battery enables its electric motors to spin up to 21,000 RPM, providing 641 horsepower (478 kW) with N Grin Boost engaged.

N Grin Boost maximizes acceleration with extra power for a 10-second interval. N Launch Control automatically activates N Grin Boost during launch and provides three different traction levels for the fastest possible launch, allowing drivers to accelerate their vehicle like a professional race car. Track SOC (state-of-charge) automatically calculates battery consumption every lap.

For Performance enthusiasts lamenting the lack of involvement and feedback behind the wheel of many EVs, Hyundai N engineers developed driver-selectable N e-shift and N Active Sound+ functions to deliver unprecedented EV feedback and precise control during dynamic driving. Together, these features greatly enhance the joy of driving by viscerally simulating the power-shift feel, rev-matched downshifts, and powertrain soundtrack of an ICE vehicle. The unique emphasis on precise power modulation differentiates the N approach to engagement from other EVs.

IONIQ 5 N’s exterior adds many performance-enhancing design elements, with unique, aggressive proportions and an enlarged rear spoiler to optimize aerodynamics distinguishing it from the standard IONIQ 5. The vehicle sits 15mm lower, and broad flares add 50mm of width to accommodate wider, 21-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance tires.

The IONIQ 5 N’s cockpit is an ideal partner for high-performance driving. A newly designed steering wheel prominently features the N logo for the first time, flanked by N drive-mode buttons. Driving modes can be customized and matched to each button in various combinations to suit the driver’s preference. The N Grin Boost button at the three o’clock position allows instant and intuitive access to maximum acceleration and driver engagement in ten-second bursts. Paddles are optimally positioned at the driver’s fingertips to engage N e-shift and regenerative braking features.

The IONIQ 5 N’s centre console is also optimized for track driving, with knee pads and shin support for cornering, as well as an adjustable armrest. A lower-console extension enhances rigidity, further supporting sporty driving. For everyday use, this assembly also offers USB-C connectivity, a wireless charger and cupholders. Track-ready N sport bucket seats feature reinforced bolsters to firmly support the upper and lower body under high lateral acceleration. The seats are mounted 15mm lower compared to the standard IONIQ 5 for enhanced stability and are heated and ventilated for comfort.
