BMW i Ventures announced a strategic investment in Claroty, the leading developer of cybersecurity software for protecting the safety and reliability of industrial control networks.
Headquartered in New York, Claroty was founded in 2014 by CEO Amir Zilberstein, Chief Business Development Officer Galina Antova, and CTO Benny Porat. Specializing in cybersecurity for industrial and critical infrastructure environments, the company provides an integrated platform of solutions which provide deep visibility into industrial control systems (ICS), combining continuous monitoring for threats and vulnerabilities with secure remote access and consequently enabling ICS operators to protect these mission-critical networks.
“Our investment in Claroty is a clear signal that we are taking the need for industrial cybersecurity very seriously and recognize the tremendous growth potential in the sector” said Tobias Jahn, Principal at BMW i Ventures. “Claroty’s unmatched team, technical superiority, and strategic partnerships with multiple large automation vendors like Rockwell Automation, Siemens and Schneider Electric, convinced us they have the capability for rapid growth and to maintain the leadership position within this segment far into the future.”
The growing threat of advanced cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure and industrial control systems presents a unique challenge. More and more factories utilize connected devices, following IoT and Industry 4.0 developments, which expose these industrial networks to malware and an increasingly hostile threat landscape. BMW i Ventures continues to make investments protecting the safety and resiliency of manufacturing operations and the security of the world-class automobiles.
Claroty will use the investment to expand its sales and customer support footprint globally, increase awareness and demand for the Claroty brand, and continue its rapid pace of product innovation.
Through its previous investments in the fields of e-mobility, navigation, parking, car sharing and intermodality, BMW i Ventures has already entered into strategic partnerships with innovative providers such as Scoop, Zirx, RiceCell, Chargepoint, Life360, Moovit, JustPark, DSP Concepts, Chargemaster, Zendrive, Rever Moto, STRIVR, Desktop Metal, BUS.com, Proterra, Xometry, Caroobi, GaN Systems, Shift, May Mobility, Blackmore Sensors and Analytics, Vera and Mapillary.
