ChargePoint, the world’s largest electric vehicle charging network, announced its entry into the Atlanta market with the installation of networked electric vehicle charging stations.
Installation of the electric vehicle charging stations is a critical step in the City of Atlanta’s efforts to expand its electric vehicle footprint.
There are more than 750 electric and electric hybrid vehicles registered in the Atlanta area, and automakers will introduce more than 10 new models in 2013 alone.
Lanier Parking Solutions, headquartered in Atlanta, facilitated the placement of six ChargePoint electric vehicle charging stations at locations in Downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead, with the location of a seventh charger to be determined.
Three of the new ChargePoint electric vehicle charging stations are at Peachtree Center, while Georgia Pacific Center, Ponce City Market, and Prominence in Buckhead each have one new electric vehicle charging station. ChargePoint and Lanier Parking Solutions today held a joint ribbon-cutting today at Peachtree Center, an office and retail complex managed by Parkway Realty Services.
For EV drivers, ChargePoint-enabled locations are included on all ChargePoint mobile phone applications for iPhone and Android. These ChargePoint mobile apps provide an easy way to locate stations near any specified address, get turn-by-turn directions, start and stop a charging session directly from a smart phone.
Additionally, these apps allow drivers to utilize ChargePoint’s station reservation feature. Drivers can locate reservable stations, and then make, view and cancel a reservation directly from a smart phone.
