Volkswagen has released new set of official images of the upcoming electric version of the Golf.
Dubbed Golf blue-e-motion, it will make its official debut at this year’s Madrid Auto Show and is expected to go on sale in 2013.
The Golf blue-e-motion is powered by an electric motor integrated in the engine compartment in front, and its power of 85 kW / 115 PS drives the car silently. Like all electric motors, the motor used in the e-Golf also outputs a very high maximum torque (270 Newton-meter) right from a stop. The result: more fun in zero-emissions driving. The electricity for driving the electric motor is stored in a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 26.5 kilowatt-hours.
A driving range of up to 150 kilometers (93 miles) can be realized in the Golf blue-e-motion; the specific range depends on driving style and factors such as use of the air conditioning and heating system.
The e-Golf can accelerate to 100km/h (62 mph) in 11.8 seconds. The full production e-Golf will be launched in 2013 along with an electric Jetta and Up mini-car.
Earlier this month, VW said that, for now, will only be produced 500 pieces of it, that will later become the test subjects at global level, on a fixed period of time.[wzslider height=”400″ lightbox=”true”]
