Adding to five locations in Germany and one in Austria, the first Porsche Charging Lounge in Switzerland is now live. Porsche drivers can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and charging rates of up to 400 kW in Signy-Avenex, near Nyon.
Another advantage to customers, in addition to the brand-typical charging experience, is that the low charging costs of just 0.39 CHF/kWh are billed centrally via the Porsche Charging Service. The Porsche Charging Lounges are displayed in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system and in the My Porsche app.
The latter was recently awarded first place in a comparison of car manufacturers’ charging apps conducted by Auto Bild. With GoFast, Porsche has gained another strong partner for the Porsche Charging Service in Switzerland.
The new Porsche Charging Lounge is located not far from Lake Geneva, close to the A1 motorway that connects Lausanne and Geneva. This location opens up the metropolitan area of Romandy, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, and is also appealing to drivers travelling from Germany to France and vice versa.
The exclusive fast-charging station is the seventh of its kind. The other Charging Lounges are located in Bingen am Rhein, Estenfeld near Würzburg, Koblach (Austria), Ingolstadt, Hamburg and Leonberg. All electric models from Porsche can be charged at these locations around the clock.
A total of six fast-charging points, each with a charging capacity of up to 400 kW, are available at the site in Signy-Avenex in the Canton of Vaud. Fully electric Porsche cars can therefore exploit their full fast-charging potential there. A current-generation Taycan, for example, can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent state of charge (SoC) in 18 minutes. A Macan requires only slightly more time, 21 minutes, to achieve the same.
Outside, seating areas with integrated speakers underline the standard of comfort. Inside, comfortable lounge chairs, a well-stocked selection of refreshments and snacks, a coffee machine, a water dispenser and modern sanitary facilities ensure a pleasant visit. Fast Wi-Fi is also available free of charge. The outdoor and indoor areas are monitored around the clock.
Like the sites in Hamburg and Leonberg, the new Charging Lounge in Switzerland is also based on the modular design developed in collaboration with Studio F.A. Porsche. This approach combines the uniform design language of all Porsche Charging Lounges with a style that is adapted to the respective shape of the property. Flexible extensions are possible. The foundation is made of concrete. However, the use of this material is largely avoided in the modules. A heat pump warms and cools the Porsche Charging Lounge. A portion of the electricity required is supplied by the photovoltaic system on the roof.
My Porsche App
The Porsche Charging Lounges are easy to find. They are shown in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system and in the My Porsche app. The app recently took first place in the OEM ranking by Auto Bild. The magazine compared a total of 32 charging services and apps from independent providers and car manufacturers. Porsche was awarded a rating of ‘very good’ in all the test criteria of pricing model, charging app useability, and network coverage.
To gain access to the charging stations and the lounge area, a Porsche ID is required. If the license plate is linked to the Porsche ID, the barrier opens automatically thanks to license plate recognition. The vehicle registration number can be conveniently stored in the My Porsche app. Alternatively, the customer can easily access the location and the lounge using a Porsche Charging Card or a QR code from the My Porsche app. Billing after a charging stop is carried out centrally via the Porsche Charging Service. If desired, payment is also possible on an ad hoc basis.
Continuing to grow: The Porsche Charging Service
The Porsche Charging Service provides access to charging points from various providers worldwide. Currently, more than 900,000 charging points in more than 25 countries are integrated in Europe, including almost 75,000 charging points with more than 150 kW of DC charging power. This also includes the IONITY network in Europe, which currently offers more than 750 fast-charging sites with around 4,900 charging points.
From now on, GOFAST will be added as a new Preferred Partner in Switzerland. The Swiss company GOFAST AG builds and operates the densest national fast-charging network for electric vehicles. Around 90 fast-charging stations are already in operation along major transport routes and at key transport hubs. Over the next few years, the network will be expanded to over 200 locations throughout Switzerland.
Aral pulse, which, like IONITY, is a Preferred Partner of Porsche, has also significantly expanded its number of locations. The mobility service provider is currently contributing more than 3,000 Aral pulse fast-charging points to the Germany-wide network. Porsche Charging Service Plus customers can charge at Preferred Partner sites at a discounted rate of €0.39/kWh.
