Nissan LEAF returns with a sleek aerodynamic design and cutting-edge tech. The all-new Nissan LEAF is the next step in Nissan’s EV journey, building on its legacy as the world’s first mass-market electric car.

Today marks the debut of the all-new version of the Nissan LEAF. The third generation of the pioneering LEAF continues to lead the charge in Nissan’s electrification strategy with a sleek design, significantly extended range, and intuitive technology that is seamlessly integrated for today’s connected driver.

Engineered to tackle key barriers to EV adoption, the all-new LEAF has a substantially increased maximum range of up to 375 miles on a single charge for a no-compromise driving experience. It also offers enhanced charging speeds (up to 260 miles of range in 30 minutes) and a suite of technologies that make both driving easier and EV ownership more rewarding.

Since its debut in 2010, the Nissan LEAF has sold close to 700,000 units worldwide, earning its place in history as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle. Today, Nissan is ushering in a new chapter for this nameplate, re-designed and re-engineered to meet the needs of modern EV customers, while remaining true to its innovative roots.

“With the all-new LEAF, we are delivering an electric vehicle that blends elegance, confidence, and breakthrough range – wrapped in a design that’s as smart as it is emotional,” said Arnaud Charpentier, Region Vice President, Marketing & Mobility, Nissan AMIEO. “It brings the best of Nissan innovation to the mainstream, and we’re incredibly excited to introduce it to European roads.”

Sleek aerodynamic design for a new EV era

Designed at Nissan’s Global Design Studio in Atsugi, Japan, the all-new LEAF introduces a stylish silhouette that reflects its dynamic character and aerodynamic efficiency. With a drag coefficient of just 0.25, its sleek design optimises airflow to enhance both performance and range. Flush door handles, a flowing roofline, full under floor cover, and sculpted surfaces create a modern profile, while its signature front and rear lighting delivers a distinct, high-tech identity on the road.

Despite its compact exterior, which is ideal for city driving, parking, and tight manoeuvres, the all-new LEAF offers a spacious interior designed to meet the everyday needs of a modern family – whether on the school run, heading to work, or going on vacation.

The all-new LEAF will offer 437 litres of cargo space and has a clever cargo area that can be arranged in different ways to enhance flexibility and use. Access to the boot is made more convenient with the availability of a power liftgate, while selected variants also include roof rails, enabling the installation of accessory crossbars.

From the panoramic dimming glass roof with LEAF detailing, to the striking 3D rear lamps and premium material finishes, every detail of the all-new LEAF is carefully crafted. Inside, drivers will find a spacious, ergonomic interior with clean lines, enhanced visibility, and ambient lighting that elevates the in-cabin experience.

The all-new LEAF is offered in seven expressive exterior colour options, including LEAF’s unique turquoise – Luminous Teal – while the interior trim comes in black or white with purple accents.

Across all grades, wheel designs are optimised for aerodynamic performance. Options include 18-inch alloy wheels with 195 tyres on entry grade, 18-inch alloys with wider 215 tyres on mid-grade, and 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/45R19 tyres on the top-grade. The 18-inch alloy design features a subtle reference to the ‘Ni-San’ pattern, echoing the 3D holographic tail lamps.

“For the all-new LEAF, we’ve introduced a refined new expression of electric design – confident and modern, with unmistakable Nissan DNA,” said Giovanny Arroba, Vice President, Nissan Design Europe. “Its aerodynamic silhouette, distinctive lighting signature, and carefully crafted interior details reflect a deep understanding of what modern European EV drivers value – not just in function, but also in form and feeling.”

Go further, charge smarter

The all-new LEAF is engineered for flexibility and confidence – whether in the city or on the highways. Customers can choose between two battery options, both delivering excellent range and real-world usability:

BatteryUsable CapacityWLTP Range
Standard52kWhUp to 270 miles (434 km)
Extended75kWhUp to 375 miles (603 km)

With a DC fast-charging capability of up to 150kW, all-new LEAF can recover up to 260 miles (418) in just 30 minutes. On the highway, it delivers more than 205 miles (330 km) of range at 130km/h and thanks to the rapid DC charging, journeys over 500 miles (over 800 km) can be completed with minimal time difference to ICE vehicles. This impressive range, combined with the spacious interior, makes it both a practical and comfortable choice as the main household car, capable of everything from daily commutes to long-distance travel.

Intelligent battery thermal management ensures fast, consistent charging in a range of temperatures, and now works in tandem with the In-Car Route Planner by Google Maps to automatically set the battery at the optimal temperature when approaching a fast charger, optimising both charging speed and efficiency. The integrated Google system also helps solve the hassle of planning long journeys by automatically identifying the most convenient charging stops along the way.

Equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, the all-new LEAF enables external device charging directly from the car, powering a variety of small to medium sized devices – such as kettles, portable lights, or electric grills – when camping or exploring the great outdoors. Leveraging an available accessory adaptor, customers can utilise an external V2L charging port to conveniently power devices, accessing up to 3.6kW of power.

Looking ahead, the all-new LEAF is Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) compatible, such that in the future it will be able to send stored energy back to the power grid. This function will help customers reduce energy costs while supporting a more stable and sustainable energy system.

Confident driving through advanced control

The all-new LEAF combines intelligent driver assistance with engaging electric performance. Built on the CMF-EV modular platform shared with the Nissan Ariya, it features MacPherson front suspension and adopts a multi-link rear arrangement for a more comfortable ride, enhancing efficiency, balance, and control – whether navigating traffic or cruising long distances. The car is designed to support the driver with a suite of intuitive features:

  • ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link adapts to curves and changing speed limits for effortless highway driving
  • e-Pedal Step and adjustable regenerative braking deliver smooth, one-pedal driving in urban settings. Regeneration levels are now adjustable via paddle shifters or automatically through Intelligent Distance Control, which adapts regeneration based on traffic conditions
  • 3D 8-point Around View® Monitor and real-time road visualisation help manage tight manoeuvres
  • Invisible Hood View and a Front Wide View for seeing past parked cars, buildings or other obstacles are also available
  • Standard safety includes Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Monitor System

The platform has been engineered to deliver confident handling, while the optimised charging curve and enhanced ride comfort make every journey both smooth and efficient.

Seamless technology for everyday life

The all-new LEAF is designed to support the driver with an available suite of intuitive features:

  • Google built-in offers access to Maps, Assistant, and Play Store directly on the car’s twin 14.3” screens
  • Drivers can control navigation, climate and media hands-free, or sync personal apps and services
  • The Connectivity app (NissanConnect Services app) will allow remote access to battery status, charging, cabin temperature pre-conditioning, journey planning and many other features
  • BOSE Personal Plus premium audio delivers immersive sound, while an integrated driver headrest speaker handles navigation and phone announcements, allowing passengers to continue enjoying uninterrupted music

With regular over-the-air updates and a unified access across infotainment and mobile platforms, the all-new LEAF provides a future-ready tech experience from day one.

Produced in Nissan’s EV36Zero Hub in Sunderland

The all-new LEAF will be built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK, one of the most advanced EV production hubs in Europe, and a key pillar of the company’s EV36Zero initiative – a blueprint for zero-emission mobility and localised EV manufacturing.

As the first new model to be produced under EV36Zero, all-new LEAF supports Nissan’s goal to create a fully integrated EV ecosystem, with manufacturing powered by renewable energy and a localised battery supply chain. LEAF is also tuned for European customers at NTCE, Nissan’s engineering and development centre in Cranfield, Bedfordshire.

Orders will begin this Autumn, with first deliveries set for Spring next year.
