New OMODA 9 is a £45K Plug-in Hybrid SUV with nearly 100 miles EV range

OMODA has revealed pricing and opened the order books for its flagship all-wheel drive OMODA 9 SHS in the UK. Priced at £44,990 OTR, the first deliveries of the luxury SUV are set to begin in June, through the brand’s extensive 73-strong dealer network.

Specified with an ‘everything as standard’ approach, the OMODA 9 SHS (Super Hybrid System) features a proven self-charging powertrain, delivering an expected WLTP range of over 700 miles – of which 93 miles are electric-only – while emitting just 40 g/km CO2.

The OMODA 9 also comes equipped with an intelligent four-wheel drive system, electromagnetic suspension, 20 ADAS features, premium materials, and numerous advanced technologies. These innovations include a 540-degree panoramic view camera with transparent view, a 1.3-metre sunroof, Air Purification, a headrest-equipped, 14-speaker SONY surround sound system, heated and ventilated seats in the front and rear along with many more modern creature comforts.

With a hybrid approach to its intended use cases – including everything from daily commuting in congested areas, to longer road trips and even off-roading – the OMODA 9 SHS brings together impressive power from its 1.5-litre TGDI engine, dual electric motors and a 34.46 kWh state-of-the-art M3P battery. The self-charging powertrain, which can also be plugged in, offers a total combined drive output of 449 PS and 700 Nm of torque, to give drivers instant and effortless performance with a 0-62 mph time of just 4.9 seconds, combined with impressive fuel efficiency. These high-performance characteristics, blended with an elegant, thoughtfully equipped interior, reflects the model’s design philosophy of ‘quiet luxury’.

The quiet, self-charging hybrid powertrain, acoustically optimised tyres and double laminated glass contribute to an ultra-quiet in-cabin experience for up to five occupants. Benchmarked against the sound of light rainfall or a modern library – just 45.8 db at urban speeds. A smooth, responsive drive is delivered via the brand’s three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), with six operating modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, Mud, Snow and Off-Road) enabling intelligent adaptability across a wide range of driving conditions.

From the exterior, the OMODA 9 is shaped by the timeless golden ratio of 0.618 – a design principle renowned for creating balanced and harmonious proportions yet retains a wide-body stance to reinforce its capability and composure. The SUV’s striking front lighting signature features 134 LED daytime running lights for optimal illumination, which light up upon unlocking for a ten-second welcome.

Inside, the focus is on space, sophistication and seamless integration. The curved 24.6-inch high-definition display combines driver and infotainment functions, while intuitive features such as ambient lighting, a cooled wireless charging pad and a headrest-equipped, 14-speaker SONY surround sound system, create an experience designed around comfort and modern connectivity. Heated and ventilated seating is provided for all four outer occupants and in the rear there’s even electronically-controlled reclining seats.

Victor Zhang, UK Country Director OMODA UK commented: “The OMODA 9 is an important step forward for us, and it is representative of what modern living should be – beautifully designed, intelligently engineered and with technology that is actually usable. The difference is, this isn’t a house – it’s all found within a car!

“Our proven, proprietary SHS technology, which is also found on our best-selling JAECOO 7 SHS, shows us how far hybrid vehicles have come – not just in terms of performance and range, but also in how well they fit into people’s lives. Ultimately, we believe this is a car that drives like an EV and thinks like a hybrid.,” continued Zhang. “Drivers today expect more than efficiency; they also want comfort, power, calm and a sense of quality, which is exactly what the OMODA 9 delivers. The level of quiet, in particular within the cabin, really stands out – it’s the kind of detail you only notice when it’s executed well.”

Offering large all-wheel drive SUV levels of refinement, quality, technology and safety at mid-sized SUV cost, the OMODA 9 SHS will be available in the UK through OMODA&JAECOO UK’s expansive dealer network, priced at £44,990 OTR with a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty (whichever comes first), with no mileage limit for the first 3 years, plus 8-year warranty on the battery, alongside RAC home start, as standard.
