CALLUM reveals luxury interior for the quirky SKYE high-performance EV

Design and engineering company CALLUM has revealed its luxury interior for the ‘dynamic’ CALLUM SKYE, the on-road variant of its high-performance, all-wheel-drive, multi-terrain electric vehicle.

Balancing performance with elegant refinement, the CALLUM SKYE’s high-end 2+2 enclosed cabin differentiates it from its category competitors. Its rugged capability and functionality combined with sophisticated design, premium hand-selected materials and finishes in this model variant achieves the optimal balance between utility and luxury.

The finely crafted interior is showcased within the ‘dynamic’ CALLUM SKYE prototype; the dramatic proportions and exaggerated exterior form is finished in CALLUM’s signature ‘Vitamin C’ orange with the ‘accent loop’ door surrounds in a contrasting satin gun metal grey.

A key design feature of CALLUM SKYE is the horizontal bar graphic that runs from front to rear of the vehicle, bisecting the doors. The design team has embraced this strong visual and incorporated it within the interior, running a bright silver premium metallic finish around the compact cabin, with matching accents on the centre console and steering wheel.

“While the CALLUM SKYE is capable and has a rugged exterior, the interior design is carefully and considerately refined to deliver a premium feel at every touchpoint,” explains Aleck Jones, head of design at CALLUM. “Clever design solutions keep the interior simple but not simplistic, giving it a light, airy and refined feel while being within a compact cabin. Its success is down to its careful balance of opposing factors, baked into an exterior that people understand and enjoy.”

“We’ve had challenging weight targets to achieve, so we’ve utilised lightweight solutions where possible without compromising on the luxury feel,” says CALLUM’s colour, material and finish designer, Charlotte Jones. “Inside, the bright silver, premium metallic coated finish on the doors, dash and centre console matches the CALLUM level of quality in our recent Jaguar C-X75 project while saving essential weight. Additionally, this prototype features body panels made from flax composite with bio-resin, which is being explored as a potential option for production models.”

In the centre of the cabin, a sleek ‘blade-like’ console houses tactile switch gear and creates a dramatic line running between the two front seats, the tip of which expands into a geometric shape with touchscreen rotary dials for HVAC control and other key features. Designed with restraint and functionality front of mind, the clean dash features a central touchscreen set to feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a glove compartment beautifully trimmed in Bridge of Weir leather.

Up front are two cossetting sports seats trimmed in supple and sumptuous ‘Arctic Pearl’ white Bridge of Weir leather in a semi-aniline finish, with a matching removable rear bench seat, suitable for children. The stunning bright white leather is complemented by contrasting accents in ‘Vitamin C’ orange. Leather pull straps on the doors and glove compartment, along with steering wheel accents, have been expertly colour matched, while the seats feature a detailed twin stitch in the same hue.

For added vibrancy, CALLUM’s signature ‘deconstructed tartan’ has been digitally printed onto the leather on the door cards, centre console and glove compartment, featuring a ‘Vitamin C’ highlight stitch for additional tactility.

The interior has been hand-trimmed by expert craftspeople at the Bridge of Weir Advanced Design Studio, based within CALLUM’s Warwick facilities.

Contrasting the bright white leather of the seats, the footwell features a tactile, rubberised finish in graphite that adds further texture and softness while being durable.

The CALLUM SKYE, which made its public debut in May 2024, is the firm’s first vehicle to be designed and engineered in-house from the ground up. It has been developed to deliver a capable, exhilarating and rewarding driving experience on- and off-road, while offering refinement and style.

The all-electric vehicle is set to be powered by a 42kWh battery offering an anticipated range of 170 miles. At 4,047mm in length, 1,900mm in width and weighing just 1,150kg, CALLUM SKYE offers sportscar performance with 0-60mph projected to be achieved in under four seconds.

It is available in a ‘dynamic’ variant, for customers that plan to use it predominantly on-road, and a ‘capable’ off-road variant for more challenging terrains and applications. The ‘capable’ specification, which will feature a ruggedised durable interior, is set to be revealed in 2025.

Order books are open with prices starting between £80,000 – £110,000.
