Volkswagen ID. Buzz crowned Best Van-Based MPV at What Car? Van and Commercial Vehicle Awards 2023

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ all-electric ID. Buzz has been crowned Best Van-Based MPV at the What Car? Van and Commercial Vehicle Awards 2023.

Judges praised the Volkswagen ID. Buzz for a combination of its electric driving performance, green credentials and spacious interior, making sustainable mobility both practical and comfortable for families and everyday use.

The prestigious What Car? Van and Commercial Vehicle Awards commend the best commercial vehicles and leading manufacturers of the year across a range of categories, with an expert judging panel boasting decades of experience in the LCV sector.

Darren Moss, Deputy Editor at What Car?, said: “Until now, a van-based MPV that mixes green credentials, acres of space and a fine drive was almost unheard of – the Volkswagen ID. Buzz changes that. With a comfy ride, a long range from its 77kWh battery pack and peppy electric performance, the ID. Buzz trumps its rivals on driving fun, while also offering enough space for families to stretch out. For bigger families, going electric is now far more tempting.”

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ first all-electric model makes use of Volkswagen’s MEB platform, providing maximum space on a compact platform. A range of up to 258 miles plus multiple safety, comfort and convenience features enable customers to reach their destination hassle-free.

With an e-motor accomodated in the rear, 1,121 litres load space, and foldable rear passenger seats, there’s no compromise on comfort, space or flexibility in the ID. Buzz, providing families with the ultimate travel companion.

Alice Axtell, Product Marketing Manager for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “We’re thrilled the ID. Buzz has been named Best Van-Based MPV, and praised for its strong on-road performance and electric powertrain. When Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles first conceptualised the ID. Buzz, we set out to redefine what it means to go electric, and to prove that sustainable mobility can be practical, versatile and even fun. That the vehicle has been highlighted for its suitability for everyday family use, makes the accomplishment especially gratifying.”
