Hyundai IONIQ 5 powers electric acts of kindness for new social media campaign. Hyundai Motor UK invited social followers to select an act of kindness, powered by IONIQ 5.

Hyundai Motor UK has launched an innovative social campaign, using IONIQ 5’s V2L technology to create an act of kindness that supports the brands vision of Progress for Humanity.

During May, Hyundai Motor UK ran a public vote where social users could select one of three acts, designed to showcase the technology of IONIQ 5. Following the vote, electric acts of kindness was created by Innocean UK with a focus on conveying Vehicle-to-load (V2L) and how IONIQ 5 can be used to power a diverse selection of electric items and lifestyles.

Two films were created with street performers, Sherika at CRATE St James’ in Walthamstow and Genevieve at God’s Own Junkyard. Within the films IONIQ 5 arrives to power a range of equipment including amps, speakers, electric guitar and a confetti machine. Over a 5-hour period, the car used just 10% of battery to power the performances and, other than the items used, no modifications were made to the car when capturing the footage.

Social teasers were shared at the start of June via Twitter and Instagram Stories, with final films enticing viewers around the campaign and the innovative use of V2L technology.

Ashley Andrew, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor UK commented, “IONIQ 5 has set the benchmark for both design and real-world electric vehicle usability and by using V2L technology with Electric Acts of Kindness we can highlight the breadth of adaptability IONIQ 5 brings to powering lives.”

First launched in February 2021, IONIQ 5 is the first model based on Hyundai Motor Group’s first dedicated BEV platform, Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The IONIQ 5 has clinched the overall title at the UK Car of The Year Awards, alongside a category win for Best Family Car, adding to a multitude of awards and accolades received since its launch in 2021.

The innovative V2L function on IONIQ 5 allows customers to freely use or charge any electric devices. The V2L function can supply up to 3.6 kW of power, with a port located under the second-row seats, and a second via a converter on the external charging port.
