Audi e-tron charging service now covers almost 75% of the UK’s public charging points

Audi’s one-stop shop for EV charging, the e-tron charging service, has been expanded to cover almost 75% of the UK’s public charging points.

With the onboarding of one of the UK’s leading networks, BP Pulse, along with Pod Point, Source London, Ionity and 19 other UK operators, Audi’s e-tron charging service now provides customers with access to one of the industry’s most comprehensive and integrated networks comprising over 17,500 chargers with only one card or myAudi app and over 242,000 across the rest of Europe.

The hassle-free subscription service brings an end to customers being encumbered by multiple subscriptions to numerous suppliers.

“Audi’s aim has always been to make the transition from combustion to electrified vehicles as easy as possible for our customers, and the expansion of our ultra-convenient e-tron charging service is a clear demonstration of that,” commented Andrew Doyle, Director of Audi UK. “With only one card Audi customers now have access to almost 75% of the UK’s public charging points – that’s a vast collection of fast, rapid and ultra-rapid charging points across the country, which will provide them with greater flexibility and convenience day-today.”

BP pulse (previously known as BP Chargemaster Polar network) is one of the UK’s largest charging networks and charging companies in the UK, with the e-tron charging service giving customers access to over 6,000 compatible BP Pulse charging stations located throughout the UK.

One card, one account
Key to the service is an RFID card that unlocks access to the e-tron charging service network, which customers will find inside the glovebox of their new TFSI e or e-tron model. Once a customer has registered with the service and confirmed their vehicle’s details (VIN required) they then have the option of selecting between two different tariffs: City or Transit.

Both tariffs allow customers free-roaming across Europe, bundle all charges into one monthly cost, and offer fixed pricing so there is no need to compare costs between providers.

Customers can start the charging process using the charge card or the myAudi app. Identification and billing are performed automatically in the background.

Customers can search for compatible charging stations using the myAudi app or via the vehicle’s onboard MMI navigation system, which can also prioritise faster DC charging terminals on a route if a destination is programmed into the navigation.

City tariff
Designed for those that mainly travel in urban areas, generally cover shorter distances and have the option to charge at home or at work, the City tariff is also more suitable for those who own an Audi TFSI e plug-in hybrid.

At £4.91 per month, the City tariff represents a cost-effective way to publicly charge – customers pay standardised rates of 0.29 GBP/kWh for AC charging and 0.39/kWh for DC fast-charging. Rates for the high-powered IONITY network and the 350kW output its units can deliver are fixed at 0.70 GBP/kWh.

Transit tariff
Customers who cover greater distances and therefore require the fastest range replenishment times possible can instead opt for the Transit tariff at £16.81 per month (12 month contract). The standardised charging rates mirror those in the City tariff. The main benefit of the Transit subscription is the discounted IONITY rate of just 0.28GBP/kWh at any one of the 400 stations across Europe. As an added saving, e-tron owners will also receive the Transit tariff-free for the first 12 months and a £150 charging voucher.

BP intant access is included in the City and Transit tariffs with charging rates of 0.20 GBO/kWh for AC Charging and 0.29 GBP/kWh for DC rapid charging and 0.42 GPB/kWh for 120kW and above DC charging. Customers can also add the optional BP Pulse pack to their subscription for a further £7.85 per month, which brings discounted charging rates of 0.16 GBP/kWh for AC charging, 0.23 GBP/kWh for DC rapid-charging, and 0.27 GBP/kWh for 120kW and above DC charging.
