Xiaomi EV Opens Europe R&D and Design Center in Munich

Xiaomi has opened its EV Europe Research and Development (R&D) and Design Center in Munich, Germany — its first such facility beyond its domestic market.

This establishment is a pivotal milestone in Xiaomi EV’s global strategy, designed to propel advancements in smart mobility and automotive innovation while further realizing the company’s “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem strategy.

Strategically located in Munich — one of Europe’s leading hubs for automotive engineering and design — Xiaomi EV R&D and Design Center will focus on performance vehicle projects, electric vehicle technology development, design innovation, customer orientation and advanced research.

Driving Innovation From the Heart of Europe

The establishment of the Munich R&D and Design Center underscores Xiaomi EV’s commitment to building a global innovation network. By leveraging world-class competences and ecosystem, Xiaomi EV accelerates breakthroughs in intelligent driving and vehicle dynamics.

This expansion of the R&D network strengthens the company’s ability to deliver vehicles that truely inspire and are renowned for their performance, whilst ensuring Xiaomi EV’s products align with global standards of safety, and quality.

Investing in Talent and Collaboration

The Munich center will bring together engineers, designers, and researchers collaborate with Xiaomi EV’s global teams. The company is committed to investing in international talent development and embrace an open, forward-looking environment that encourages breakthroughs in vehicle performance, autonomous driving, EV platforms, and next-generation user experiences.

The center will also foster collaborations with research institutions while forging meaningful partnerships across industries to accelerate smart mobility solutions and eco system integration while addressing infrastructure and ethical AI considerations.

A Milestone in Xiaomi’s Global Expansion

The opening represents a significant step in Xiaomi EV’s mission to become a global leader in the new era of smart mobility.

Following the successful launches of Xiaomi SU7, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, and Xiaomi YU7 in Mainland China, this expansion is a significant progress towards the company’s long-term “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem strategy. It prepares for its entry to the European Market in 2027.
