New AC on-board charger upgrade for the Porsche Taycan dramatically reduces charging times. New, more powerful on-board device doubles power sent to the car and is able to be retrofitted.

For current Taycan owners that wish for more at-home charging performance, an AC 19.2 kW on-board charger upgrade is now available and doubles the amount of power the Taycan can receive when charging via a compatible 19.2 kW capable level 2 AC charger.

Located behind the front trunk area, this new module replaces the existing on-board charger and associated wiring included with the car. One benefit specifically for 2020 Taycan model year cars is the ability to enable Plug and Charge in conjunction with a valid My Porsche account.

Charging time at 19.2 kW from 0-100% for Performance Battery equipped cars is 4.8 hours, versus 9.5 hours for the previous charger. Performance Battery Plus equipped cars will be able to charge from 0-100% in just 5.3 hours with the new 19.2 kW module, versus 10.5 hours.

Your Porsche service center will be able to order and install the kit (with part number 9J1.044.900.31) into all Taycan variants and retails for $1,850.15. Labor time is estimated at 12 hours of work. New and potential Taycan owners can simply add the higher capacity OBC to their builds by selecting the KB4 option directly in the configurator.

For those wishing to take full advantage of the increased performance of the 19.2 kW on-board charger, a new 19.2 kW Wall Charger Connect is now available via the Porsche Shop (shop.porsche.com).

Though this charger must be hard wired directly to a 100-amp circuit by a professional electrician for best performance, the unit is adjustable for direct connection with lower capacity circuits.

The Wall Charger Connect features a 5-inch touch screen and WiFi connectivity for software updates. Part number for the charger is HCHH0LAA and retails for $1,586.00.
