All major automakers are posting January sales numbers for plug-in electric vehicles.
Sales of plug-in electric vehicles in 2014 improved by 27% over calendar year 2013 with an estimated 119,500 units sold.

Nissan LEAF Sales of the all-electric Nissan LEAF totaled 1,070, down 15 percent compared to January of 2014 when Nissan sold 1,252 LEAF’s. In 2014, Nissan sold more than 30,000 LEAF vehicles in the U.S., the first time any plug-in vehicle has reached that milestone in a single year. | |
Chevrolet Volt Chevrolet Volt finished last month with just 542 deliveries, a decrease of 41 percent compared to January 2014 when 918 were sold. Last year, GM sold 18,805, which was down by 18.6% compared with 2013 when 23,094 were sold. | |
Toyota Prius Plug-in Prius Plug-in Hybrid sold 401 units during the month, which is down by 52 percent compared to January of 2014 when 803 were sold. | |
Ford C-Max Energi Ford C-MAX Energi sold 395 units in December. Previously in December, Ford sold 659 plug-ins. | |
Ford Fusion Energi Ford Fusion Energi finished last month with 426 deliveries, after selling 789 units in December. | |
Cadillac ELR GM sold 118 Cadillac ELRs last month, which brings the total amount sold in 2014 to 1,310 units. The 2014 Cadillac ELR has a starting price of $75,995, including a $995 destination charge but excluding tax, title, license and dealer fees. | |
Porsche Panamera S-E Hybrid Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrids finished last month with 61 deliveries. Previously in December, Panamera S E-Hybrid sold 31 units. | |
Porsche Cayenne S e-Hybrid Porsche sold 83 Cayenne S E-Hybrid SUVs in its third month in the US. The 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid is the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. The Cayenne S Hybrid has a lithium-ion traction battery with an energy capacity of 10.8 kWh, which enables an all-electric driving range of 11 to 22 miles, combined fuel consumption is 39 mpg US with 79 g/km of CO2. Tesla Model S – Does not report exactly monthly sales Tesla Motors delivered 7,579 Model S vehicles and produced 8,763 of the cars, according to second-quarter results. The California-based electric carmaker lowered its forecast for revenue and deliveries for the third quarter to 7,800 vehicles from 9,500 because it had to shut down its factory in Fremont, Calif., to install equipment in July. Ford Focus Electric Deliveries of the Ford Focus Electric were just 85 in January, after selling 53 units in December. Ford sold record 264 Focus Electric EVs in August and 198 units EVs in July, which was just a single unit more compared to June’s number of 197. | |
BMW i3 BMW i3 achieved 670 sales last month, after selling 1,013 units in December. The total amount sold in the 7 months on the market in 2014 was 6,092 units. BMW is now offering a new low cost DC fast charger for $6,548 at authorized BMW partners. | |
BMW i8 BMW i8 sold 85 plug-in hybrid sports cars in January. BMW sold 158 units in December, 126 units in November and 204 units in October. BMW delivered the first plug-in hybrid BMW i8 sport cars at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and auctioned One-of-a-kind BMW i8 Concours d’Elegance Edition for $825,000. Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive finished last month with 240 deliveries, after selling 326 in December, 193 in November and 98 in October. The B-Class Electric Drive starts from $41,450 and has an all-electric range of 87 miles. For an extra $600, one can purchase the extended range package which allows the driver go 104 miles. | |
Volkswagen e-Golf Volkswagen e-Gold sold 181 units in January, its third full month on the market. In December, the e-Golf sold 237 units. The all-electric 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf is on sale at participating dealerships in select states. The e-Golf was rated by the EPA at126 city, 105 highway, and 116 combined MPGe and given a range of up to 83 miles. | |
Kia Soul EV Kia Soul EV sold 69 units during January. Offered in two trims, Base and + (Plus), the 2015 Kia Soul EV MSRP will be $33,700 (not including federal tax rebate of $7,500) for the Base and $35,700 for the Plus (not including federal tax rebate of $7,500). Fiat 500e For January, Fiat 500e sold 119 units. Fiat has sold 1,793 500e EVs last year. The 2013 Fiat 500e is priced at $32,500, which includes a $700 destination charge. However, eligible California residents may be able to purchase the 2013 Fiat 500e for as low as $20,500, after federal credits. | |

Honda Fit EV Honda Fit EV didn’t sold any unit last month. A total of 1,069 Fit EVs has been sold since the vehicle hit the market in mid-2012. Honda Fit EV production will be halted this fall when the automaker produces its 1,100th Fit EV. With the Fit EV being halted this fall, Honda will be left without a all-electric vehicle to compete in the growing segment. | |
Toyota RAV4 EV Toyota RAV4 EV sold just 7 units last month. The RAV EV sold 37 units in December, 83 units in November and 97 units in October. For 2014, sales of the Toyota RAV4 EV were 1,184 units. | |
Mitsubishi i Mitsubishi sold 3 i-MiEV electric cars in January. Previously in December and November, Mitsubishi sold 12 and 18 i-MiEV electric cars respectively. 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV starts at $22,995 including CHAdeMO DC quick charge port, representing a $6,130 reduction from the starting price of the 2012 model that preceded it. | |
