All major automakers posted February sales numbers for plug-in vehicles.
Deliveries of the Chevrolet Volt electric range extended vehicle totaled 1,620 units in February 2013, up from 1,140 Volts sold in January 2013 and almost 60% up from a year ago’s result.
Deliveries of the second highest seller, the Toyota Prius Plug-In, were 693 units, down from 874 Prius Plug-in models sold in January. Toyota also sold 52 RAV4 EV electric SUVs last month.
Nissan reported that sales of its electric LEAF checked in at 653 units in February, only three units more than the 650 units sold in January.
Honda reported selling 15 units of the Fit EV in February. The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid, which went on sale last month, logged 17 units this month.
Sales of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car in February were 337 units, which brings the year-to-date total to 594 units, or 6 more than Mitsubishi sold in entire 2012.
Tesla Motors doesn’t report its monthly deliveries, though it says it is now producing 400 Model S cars a week. Like Tesla, Fisker does not report monthly sales.
UPDATE
Ford sold just 334 C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids in February, down from 338 units in January, 971 units in December 2012 and 1,259 units of the C-MAX Energi in November 2012—vehicle’s first full month on the market. Current inventories at February’s end are nearly four times January at nearly 600 cars.
Ford sold 119 units of the Ford Fusion Energi in February. This month, Ford is planning on having a big media launch in California and DC to kick off sales.
Ford reported selling 158 Focus Electric EVs in February, or nearly double the amount the automaker sold in January.
