Daimler and Renault SA have reached a new deal to expand their cooperation on electric car production.
A report by Reuters, citing Daimler’s head of research and development Thomas Weber, informs that Renault will deliver electric engines for the Smart and Twingo models, while Daimler will supply batteries.
Back in April 2010 the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler AG signed a cooperation deal to exchange capital and technology with particular emphasis on small, electric cars, powertrains and light commercial vehicles.
The new agreement is an extension of this deal.
