Ford Focus BEV Ford Signs Electric Vehicle Deal for State of VirginiaFord Motor Company and Dominion Virginia Power announced plans to jointly promote electric vehicles in the State of Virginia.

Ford and Dominion will work together to develop consumer outreach and education programs on electric vehicles as well as share information on charging needs and requirements to ensure the electrical grid can support the necessary demand.

Ford and Dominion will also work with the state and local governments regarding government support for infrastructure and the charging station permitting process.

Ford is working with several utilities across the US to prepare for the mass market arrival of EVs.

The automaker plans to launch five hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles on the market over the next two years. Ford will introduce the Transit Connect Electric small commercial van, the Ford Focus Electric, two third generation lithium-ion battery hybrids (2012) and a plug-in hybrid (2012).
