Nissan, Mitsubishi to Join Kyoto Electric-Car-Sharing Project

Nissan Leaf1 Nissan, Mitsubishi to Join Kyoto Electric Car Sharing ProjectNissan and Mitsubishi will join the Japanese city of Kyoto in a pilot electric-car-sharing project.

A total of seven Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric cars will be used in the project, the Nikkei reported.

Charging stations set up in Kyoto will be networked so that participants in the electric-car-sharing project will be able to find the charging points.

Local firm Horiba Ltd. will provide measuring instruments as part of an effort to study ways to improve safety.

Kyoto already runs an electric-car-sharing program that allows residents to test-drive publicly-owned electric cars on weekends and holidays.
